ABOUT

Erik van Geest, founder of R&D Advance, is an experienced manager of R&D organizations in the high-tech domain. He focuses on organizational transitions where the teams, their managers and their stake holders want to establish a new setup. For example working with new teams and partners, introducing new methodologies and tools, adjusting to shifted product demands and technologies, (de-) centralization, etc.

His approach is to bring people and teams together and integrate the different ideas into a well-thought through and well-supported change program. Important starting point is to align on the end goal and the strategy how to get there. This serves as yard stick and enables dealing with unforeseen aspects along the way while staying focused on the end goal.

He combines over 10 years of senior R&D management experience in various roles in NXP Semiconductors with a PhD in Electronics from University of Twente. He understands the human and managerial aspects of going through change, and can also spar with technical experts on addressing their challenges. Thanks to his experience with managing teams worldwide he can handle multicultural sensitivities very well.

As a manager he leaves room for innovation and individual ideas where possible, and establishes structure where required. With this philosophy he embraces new trends like Agile, Lean and SAFe. They set a good framework for organizing activities in a scalable way, provided that the end goal remains clear and there is room for customization to the specifics of the organization.
